Tom H's Thoughts:

I am excited to see this film, not only because the trailer looks really good and appears that this film will push limits. I also really am excited because a friend of mine Jeremy Mitchell is producing and editing this film! Jeremy is the Director of the film that was made at my film festival called "The Dead in Dixon. Movie Review: "Happy Camp" by Josh Anthony

TOM H REVIEW’s “HAPPY CAMP”

In 2012 I ran across a film called “Happy Camp” directed by Josh Anthony; my contact at first was Michael Barbuto, one of the stars and producers of this film. The story was intriguing and the clip made it seem even more awesome! And now it’s time I do my review!

The story is about a guy named Michael Tanner (Michael Barbuto) returns to the town in which he once lived with his adoptive parents 20 years prior.  The story is his brother was taken by someone or something and Michael can’t remember any of the events that happened; the town people seem to be trying to get Michael and his friends to leave after they realize who he is and the reason that they are there. Michael begins to unravel as they stay in Happy Camp while his friends (Josh Anthony, Anne Taylor, Teddy Gilmore) are worrying and wanting to leave they finally come face to face with Michael’s past!

Now that’s the story- Here’s is my take on the film! I am not big on rushing a story so it fit within my guidelines of build up; I do however want to get some glimpses of what may or may not be happening. “Happy Camp” gives you the story and shows you a little glimpse that something isn’t right as it all unfolds. Is it really different from other found footage films? No; not really but the ending was pretty cool; not completely expected but yet it was. Great effects and camera angles! My only negative with “Happy Camp” is the fact they didn’t have more kills!!

This was a pretty damn good film that I will recommend to others; I have sections that I save my favorite films and once I get a hard copy of this film it will get put in my library as well!! Job well done guys!

Yes, I know it's way late or way early! However I heard about this film last year and did a some interviews with some of the awesome and beautiful women that were going to be part of the films; Victoria Vertuga, Cori Collins, Marissa Merrill of (The Lady Bruins Christmas Slumber Party) and Elyse Dufour of (Alexandria). And I became really excited to get the chance to review this Christmas Horror Anthology!

Here is a list of the four short films that make up the Anthology.

LEFT OFF THE FINISHED ANTHOLOGY! The town that Christmas forgot: Starring - Dana Bretz, Dan Czerwonka and Kyle Pacek

The film overall was pretty cool with some pretty good story ideas that were thought out well and performed pretty damn good. This has it all! Sexy women, evil cursed dolls, a demented pill popping crazy woman, and of course Santa Claus being killed off in an attempt to keep kids from being greedy in the town of Halcyon Ridge! This was a really good anthology that will be part of my horror film line up for years to come at Christmas time!

First thing I have to say is Roberto Lombardi is fucking amazing as Freddy Krueger! He plays the part so well that I am almost convinced that he has had someone perform a spell that made him a perfect double of Robert Englund; in fact I think in some ways he has made Freddy Krueger his own! Of what has been done so far the series has dove into the character of Freddy prior to his whole transformation into the man who stalks us in our sleep! A more in depth background that has been exciting to watch and gives us an added dimension to the whole story! Chris Notarile has shined on many levels and I can’t wait to see what comes next! 

The first installment is called “Krueger: A tale from Elm Street” (2011)

Set in the 1970's, after a rash of horrible killings, the alleged Springwood Slasher is finally arrested and brought to justice. But Lieutenant Donald Thompson wants more than evidence and probable cause to put this child murderer away, he wants a written confession. And in an effort to prove guilt, Thompson sits down in an interrogation room with the man known as Freddy Krueger. Will he get Freddy's confession or more than he bargained for?

The second installment is called “Krueger: Another tale from Elm Street” (2013)

In Springwood, long before he became a demon of dreams, Freddy Krueger stalked the streets under another name - The Springwood Slasher. A little girl will learn why she should never get into a stranger's car.

The third installment is called “Krueger: A walk through Elm Street” (2013)

In Springwood, long before he became a demon of dreams, Freddy Krueger stalked the streets under another name - The Springwood Slasher. Our third story centers on the inner working's of Freddy's mind. What makes him tick and how does he view the world? Edited to reflect his fragmented way of thinking, we follow Freddy on a walk through Elm Street as he interacts with a soon to be mother, outside of a very familiar house.

Movie Project: "PROJECT: MEGAFOOT"

The concept – based on an original idea and story by Justin Martell (Producer of Troma's "Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volumes 1 & 2") and with a screenplay by Rolfe Kanefsky (award-winning screenwriter/director of “There’s Nothing Out There,” “The Hazing” and “Nightmare Man"), who is also attached to direct - was to create the ultimate warrior using enhanced chemical and engineering technology. When it was declared that the end product would be used exclusively in conjunction with the U.S. military, Colonel Hankle and his team immediately took control.  A research facility in the backwoods of the American Mid-West was built, and a top-notch group of scientists was dispatched – along with some healthy, willing volunteers – to commence the operation.  Alas, the human subjects proved to be incompatible with the procedure.  All seemed lost… and then we made the most incredible discovery.

A new type of creature. GIGANTANTHROPUS CRYPTICUS, more commonly known as a Sasquatch, or Bigfoot.  We thought it was a mere myth, a projection of Man’s fantastical imagination, but we were wrong.  They exist.

Just the confirmation that these beasts inhabit this world would alone shake the foundation of Science across the globe.  But we could not pass up this amazing opportunity: fate, it seemed, was smiling upon us.  Our endeavors would not be wasted.  These hairy mammals proved to be a far more accurate match to our program than mere humans.  By combining a unique combination of Nature and Cybernetics, we will produce the most dangerous being on the planet.  The quest to create the ultimate warrior shall continue.  Project: MEGAFOOT.

Writer/Director Bryan Coyne’s (Harvard Park and Incarnate)new film Utero started production a little over a week ago in Los Angeles. Independently financed by Coinopflix, the movie stars Jessica Cameron who is also producing along with her Truth or Dare partner, Jonathan Higgins. Former Platinum Studios Exec (Cowboys and Aliens, Dylan Dog: Dead Of Night) Richard Marincic also serves as a producer on the film.

Utero is about “an agoraphobic unwed mother who finds her psyche unraveling as she becomes convinced that her unborn child is more monster than human.”

Coyne has directed the baseball documentary Harvard Park (which is available now on Netflix), as well as the hotly anticipated horror movie Incarnate that will make its theatrical debut in the fall.

Cameron’s latest film Truth or Dare, is playing the festival circuit and has currently won 18 awards. She is also known for such films as the Roger Corman produced Camel Spiders which is currently airing on the SyFy channel, and Steven C. Miller’s remake of Silent Night. Utero marks Cameron’s and Higgins’ second collaboration together.

Cameron had this to say about the project:

“Utero is the most cerebral script I have ever read and I cannot wait to bring it to life! It is such an intense case study on these endlessly fascinating characters. Horror fans are going to love it!”

Movie Review: "Devil's Door" by Alpesh Patel

I watched another found footage film called “Devil’s Door” directed by Alpesh Patel! I was not disappointed; this film was pretty cool with the storyline that was in place as well as some pretty good effects! There were a few times I expected cheap jump scares but I was surprised at the fact that there was a small amount of them. While most found footage films that involve the paranormal are typically the same; this film has some differences which were welcomed!

This film I could compare to some of the better found footage films that have been released in the past 5 years and it easily surpassed films like “The Bay” and “The Last Exorcism”! I recommend this film to found footage lover’s because it is unique; I won’t lie and say it’s the best out and I won’t lie and say that there isn’t some similarities to other films. I am just saying it offers something different with its storyline. Give it a view and support our Indie Horror Filmmakers!

This is an example of how indie horror films don't get the recognition or exposure they deserve! A true paranormal experience that doesn't over complicate with too much over the top shit that doesn't help the film at all.

Hollywood/Santa Monica - Vantage Media International (VMI) has acquired the worldwide rights to the much buzzed about horror title Pernicious, it was announced jointly by Andre Relis, Founder and President of VMI and Daemon Hillin, President of Production of Benetone Hillin Entertainment (BHE).

Ciara Hanna (Power Rangers), Jackie Moore (100 Ghost Street) and Emmy-nominated Emily O’Brien (Young and the Restless) star in the film directed by James Cullen Bressack.  One of the hottest young directors in this genre, Bressack is perhaps best known for numerous 2013 releases including To Jennifer, Hate Crime and 13/13/13.

In the vein of such horror fest standouts as Hostel and The Grudge, Pernicious follows the plight of three American beauties whose dream summer adventure in Thailand quickly turns into a nightmare when they unleash the spirit of a murdered child with only one thing on her mind...revenge.
